Our Descriptive Song
I Didn't Know My Own Strength
_Whitney Houston
My Partner and I chose this song to describe Piggy because he truly didn't know his own strength. Yes, I know that piggy had a thousand and one heath problems, but if he ‘d tried a big difference would have been made. The other kids on the island often over looked Piggy or verbally abused him, and he did nothing at all about it. Piggy really didn't know his strength and that he was the one that kept the entire island together and at peace to a certain instinct. He was the only child on the island that actually had the mindset of an adult. The other kids on the island looked up to piggy for advise because he was very intelligent, yet he still allowed them to humiliate him. He lost who he was, amongst, trying to please everybody else. I was a magnificent person on the inside and the outside. It shows that you can't let what others say about you affect who you really are. I loved how no matter what anybody said about piggy he didn't stop saying what he felt needed to be done. It might have hurter his feeling, or got him down but best believe the next time Ralph needed advice he was right beside him offering it. Towards the end of the novel started to stand up for self, which resulted in his death. Jack and his tribe had come and taken Piggy’s glasses, so piggy went to go get them back and he was pushed off a boulder. When piggy died, I say died finally standing up for himself.
Some Changes are Meant for the Best
I saw the change in Piggy from the begging of the story to the end of the story. In the beginning he was very fearful and not just toward others but himself. I strongly believe that piggy feared himself. He had an asthma problem so he didn't do to much work. When asthma should've been his motivation to get up and work. Then, towards the end t was different. Jack took Piggy glasses, and Piggy wanted them back. No,Piggy couldn't see a single thing in his path, but he finally had faced his fears and stood up for himself. He died a martyr on that day, and that is what made me realize the drastic change in piggy's character from the beginning of the novel up until his death.
